BCCI officially confirming eight IPL 2026 trades including Sanju Samson to Chennai Super Kings and Mohammed Shami to Lucknow Super Giants November 2025

The BCCI has officially confirmed eight massive IPL trade deals ahead of the November 15 retention deadline, headlined by Sanju Samson’s switch to Chennai Super Kings and Mohammed Shami’s move to Lucknow Super Giants. The blockbuster trades reshape multiple franchises ahead of IPL 2026.

The Samson-Jadeja Mega Swap

The headline trade sees Sanju Samson join CSK for Rs 18 crore, with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran moving to Rajasthan Royals. Jadeja’s fee has been revised from Rs 18 crore to Rs 14 crore as part of the agreement.

Jadeja, who played for CSK for 12 seasons and over 250 games, becomes one of the most experienced players in the league to switch franchises. “As part of the trade agreement, his league fee has been revised from Rs 18 crore to Rs 14 crore,” the IPL said in a release.

For CSK, Samson represents a long-term investment as MS Dhoni’s successor behind the stumps and potentially as captain. The 30-year-old has played 177 IPL matches since his debut in 2013, making CSK his third franchise after stints with RR and Delhi Capitals.

Shami Joins LSG

Mohammed Shami has completed his move to Lucknow Super Giants from Sunrisers Hyderabad in an all-cash deal worth Rs 10 crore—the same fee SRH paid for him ahead of IPL 2025.

The 35-year-old struggled last season, picking up just six wickets in nine matches at an expensive economy of 11.23 after returning from a lengthy heel injury layoff. LSG hope reuniting him with former India bowling coach Bharat Arun—who recently joined their talent development team—will help resurrect his form.

Delhi Capitals were also interested in Shami, but SRH ultimately chose LSG’s offer.

Arjun Tendulkar to LSG

In their second trade, LSG acquired Arjun Tendulkar from Mumbai Indians for Rs 30 lakh. The bowling all-rounder has played five matches for MI since making his debut in 2023, picking up three wickets.

Other Major Moves

Mayank Markande to MI: The leg-spinner returns to Mumbai Indians for the third time in his career, joining from Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 30 lakh. Markande has 37 wickets in 37 IPL matches.

Nitish Rana to DC: The left-handed batter completes a surprise move to Delhi Capitals from Rajasthan Royals for Rs 4.2 crore. Rana scored 217 runs in 11 matches for RR in IPL 2025 and previously captained KKR in 2023.

Donovan Ferreira to RR: The South African all-rounder returns to Rajasthan Royals from Delhi Capitals, with his fee revised upward from Rs 75 lakh to Rs 1 crore.

Strategic Implications

The trades reflect each franchise’s priorities heading into IPL 2026. CSK have secured their wicketkeeper-captain for the post-Dhoni era, while RR gain an experienced all-rounder in Jadeja to balance their squad. LSG are rebuilding their pace attack after a disappointing seventh-place finish, banking on Arun’s expertise to revive Shami’s career.

With the retention deadline now passed, attention turns to the December mega auction where franchises will fill out their squads for the upcoming season.
