Corbin Bosch gets demerit point for Dwarshuis send-off in 2nd T20I

Corbin Bosch penalised for Dwarshuis send-off as South Africa level series
South Africa allrounder Corbin Bosch has received one demerit point for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct after a send-off gesture towards Australia’s Ben Dwarshuis in the second T20I in Darwin, where the Proteas won by 53 runs to square the series 1-1. Bosch pointed towards the Australian dugout after bowling Dwarshuis in the 17th over of the chase, admitted the offence, and accepted the sanction without a formal hearing.
What Bosch was charged with
The incident fell under Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which covers “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an international match.” One demerit point was added to Bosch’s record; as it is his first offence within the 24‑month window, no further penalty applies. The charge was levelled by the match officials and the sanction proposed by the ICC match referees’ panel, which Bosch accepted.
Match recap: Brevis blitz, Bosch impact
Earlier in the game, Dewald Brevis produced a record-breaking unbeaten 125 off 56 balls, South Africa’s highest individual T20I score and their second-fastest T20I hundred (41 balls), powering the visitors to 218/7 and snapping Australia’s nine-match T20I winning streak. Bosch (3-20) and teenager Kwena Maphaka (3-57) then shared six wickets to bowl Australia out for 165, sealing a 53-run victory and setting up a series decider in Cairns on Saturday.
What’s next
The final T20I will be played in Cairns on Saturday, followed by a three-match ODI series starting August 19, with Australia and South Africa meeting again in Mackay later in the tour. Bosch’s demerit point remains on his record for 24 months; four or more demerit points within that period translate into suspension points under ICC regulations.
