Mohammed Siraj wins ICC Men’s Player of the Month for August 2025

Mohammed Siraj has been named ICC Men’s Player of the Month for August 2025. He won the award for his match-winning bowling in the Oval Test against England. He took nine wickets in the match and helped India level the series 2–2.

Siraj was also the Player of the Match in that Test. He bowled 46 overs in the game and took a five-wicket haul in the second innings. He beat New Zealand’s Matt Henry and West Indies’ Jayden Seales to win the monthly prize.

This was a big month for Siraj. He was the only Indian fast bowler to play all five Tests in the England series. He finished as India’s top wicket-taker in the series with 23 wickets and reached his best Test bowling ranking. Many former cricketers praised him. Sachin Tendulkar also said Siraj’s work is often under-rated.

After receiving the award, Siraj said it was a special honour. He thanked his teammates and coaches. He said the England series was very tough and brought out the best in him. He promised to keep working hard every time he plays for India.

Why Siraj won

  • Nine wickets at the Oval, including 5 in the second innings

  • Player of the Match in the deciding Test

  • 46 overs of high-quality fast bowling under pressure

  • Helped India turn a tricky match into a famous win and tie the series

What this means

This award confirms Siraj’s growth as a leading Test fast bowler. It rewards stamina, accuracy, and big-match temperament. It also gives India a boost ahead of the next red-ball assignments.
