PCB protests ‘no handshake’ after India win; India says it was a tribute to Pahalgam victims

PCB files protest over ‘no handshake’ after India vs Pakistan match
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has filed an official protest after India did not shake hands with Pakistan players during the Asia Cup match in Dubai. The PCB called the conduct “against the spirit of the game” and said they have raised the matter with tournament officials.
What happened
Before the match, India told the match referee that the team would not shake hands with Pakistan. During the toss, the referee also told Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha not to approach Suryakumar Yadav for a handshake. After the game, India walked straight to the dressing room and did not meet Pakistan players on the field.
PCB’s complaint
The PCB said the behaviour was unsportsmanlike.
They confirmed the team manager has lodged a formal protest.
They also said captain Salman skipped the post-match presentation as a mark of protest.
India’s side
India captain Suryakumar Yadav said the team decision was a tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and to the armed forces. He said the team wanted to show solidarity and that some things are bigger than sport.
What next
This is now a tournament issue. Officials will review the complaint and decide the next steps. Both teams could still meet later in the competition if results allow.
